Bike Thief Apprehended
A Lawrenceburg man was arrested on theft charges Sunday after authorities found him to be in possession of a stolen bicycle.
Lawrenceburg Police Officers were dispatched to 310 Buffalo Road where the resident reported his daughter’s bicycle had been stolen from the yard behind his home. The resident stated that this was the second time the bicycle had been stolen in the past two weeks.
After taking the complaint, the reporting officer indicates that he was patrolling along May Street when he noticed a bicycle that fit the description of the stolen bike. The bicycle was reportedly at North End Market, in the possession of a man.
When he confronted the man, the officer reports that the man stated he had found the bicycle in a yard.
The owner came to the scene, reports show, and identified the bicycle. As a result the suspect was placed under arrest.
Humberto Corvego Lopez, 38, of 213 May Street, was booked through the Lawrence County Jail under one count of theft. He is scheduled to answer the charge through Lawrence County General Sessions Court on July 5.
